In View magazine

Inview In 2004 we were asked by the Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery to develop their magazine In View to reflect the Gallery’s core values. Five years and a further refresh later, this full-colour 24 page magazine is still ‘original, accessible and world-class’.

Looking Forward

Tpo071rThis design is for the 33rd annual conference for Trainee Probation Officers to be arranged by trade union Napo. We designed this graphic using imperatives to highlight the benefits to be gained by attending.

Font Fight 2007

Fontfight_3

Our posters advertised the 2007 Font Fight organised by the Typographic Circle. It was held on Thursday 15 March and drew a full house. Alan Haley, fight master, introduced the contestants Phil Baines, Dave Farey, Jeremy Tankard, Rian Hughes and Bruno Maag. Maag, partnered with his font design Plume, soundly beat all of his opponents.

Growing up in a Surrealist Household

PenroseThe prestigious Double Crown Club asked us to design this invitation and menu for their 338th dinner. Anthony Penrose is the son of the American photographer Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, the British Surrealist artist and biographer of Picasso. Penrose gave a spell-binding talk on his parents, their work and a most unusual upbringing.

Social Market Foundation

Smfcovers
The SMF is an independent public policy think tank. It holds seminars and conferences and publishes pamphlets and books. These are four of the most recent covers we designed for books on subjects ranging from road pricing to early years education.

Beside the seaside, beside the sea...

NapoagmIn 2006 Trade Union Napo's AGM was held in the seaside resort of Eastbourne. To promote it we appropriated the language of the seaside to create this ‘municipal planting’.

Winslow Homer: Poet of the Sea

Ambassador_tuttleAmbassador and Mrs. Robert Tuttle, the Honorary Patrons of Winslow Homer: Poet of the Sea at Dulwich Picture Gallery, officially opened the first European exhibition of the iconic American painter’s work on February 22. We designed the exhibition graphics as part of our ongoing relationship with the Gallery. Photo Benedict Johnson.

Keep Probation, Keep it Public

Keep_poster_1This poster is part of the materials we designed for the ‘Keep Probation, Keep it Public’ campaign being run by trade union Napo. The poster campaign was in response to Home Office plans which will effectively lead to the privatisation of the Probation Service. Napo condemned the proposals as extraordinary, illogical, flawed and likely to lead to the collapse of cooperation between the criminal justice agencies. They commissioned us to design a poster to help publicise their concerns to a wider audience. The aim of the campaign will be to try to convince the Government to reverse its policy on the grounds that it will not reduce re-offending but will lead to fragmentation of the service and to chaos.

Dulwich Picture Gallery Annual Review

Dpg_ar05For the second year running we’ve designed the Annual Review for the Dulwich Picture Gallery. The front cover showcases Poussin’s newly restored The Triumph of David (DPG236). The tall, elegant format conceals a surprise as the cover opens out to four pages to reveal a montage of reportage pictures covering the year's personalities and activities. The internal pages are in a cost-effective single colour.

Making an Impact in Llandudno

Napoagm05_1The Annual General Meeting for trade union Napo is the chance for members to have their say on the issues which affect them. Held in the Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno, this was the most important AGM for many years, with crucial issues facing members ranging from the threat of privatisation to pay negotiations. For the poster and application form we chose an image which emphasised the democratic procedures by which members could influence the direction of their union.
